Away from his work duties, he enjoys running marathons and has completed 63 so far. He also trains five days per week.

When beginning to train to run a marathon, there are a few tips that can improve your performance. According to Runner’s World, you should aim to increase your mileage by 10 percent per week to reduce injury.

Try to run at least three to four days per week. Include two shorter runs for strength and speed, one long run, and an easy recovery day. Cross-training at least one or two times per week can increase your aerobic conditioning. Cycling, rowing, and swimming are a few options for cross-training. Be sure to listen to your body and give it rest when needed.
